A Sportsnet insider suggests a Blackhawks-Canadiarns trade at the draft

This potential trade could see the Canadiens moving down in the draft order in exchange for extra draft picks, which would aid in their rebuilding efforts or possibly add a roster player.
The Canadiens are reportedly looking to accumulate additional draft capital to support their long-term rebuilding strategy. On the other side, the Blackhawks are keen on moving up in the draft, a sentiment that has been further fueled by their recent trade with the New York Islanders.
This move suggests that General Manager Kyle Davidson is gearing up for a significant acquisition during the draft, aiming to strengthen his roster by securing higher picks.
The Blackhawks are particularly interested in acquiring top defensive and scoring talents in this draft. Ivan Demidov, currently sitting at the number two pick, and Artyom Levshunov are among the coveted prospects.
This strategy highlights the Blackhawks' intent to add impactful players who can immediately contribute to their team.
This wouldn't be the first instance of the Canadiens and Blackhawks making a deal during the first round of a draft.
Two seasons ago, the Canadiens acquired Kirby Dach from the Blackhawks, a trade that involved moving some key picks and eventually helped Montreal land promising defenseman Lane Hutson.
Davidson's aggressive approach to this draft indicates his belief that now is the time for the Blackhawks to begin their ascent out of the league's basement and push towards playoff contention.
The team is also expected to be very active in the unrestricted free agent market, with several critical needs on their checklist, including securing a number one goaltender, adding secondary scoring, and improving their defense.
The anticipation is building as the NHL draft is set to kick off on Friday, June 28th, at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
With both the Canadiens and the Blackhawks looking to make strategic moves, the draft promises to be an exciting event full of potential trades and surprises.
