'Step in the right direction': Calgary Flames forward Andrei Kuzmenko has a shoot-first mentality the club needs

After being traded from the Vancouver Canucks in the Elias Lindholm deal during the 2023-24 season, Andrei Kuzmenko has become a key trade candidate for the Calgary Flames.

Initially struggling with his new team, Andrei Kuzmenko found his scoring touch late in the season, tallying 17 points in his last 10 games. His offensive upside, particularly on the power play, raises his value on the trade market.
With just one year left on his contract, Andrei Kuzmenko presents an opportunity for Calgary to sell high as they focus on rebuilding after moving core players like Lindholm, Noah Hanifin, and Jacob Markstrom. However, his shooting percentage of 26.4% and defensive weaknesses make him a one-dimensional player, further incentivizing the Flames to consider trading him while his value is high.
As Calgary is not expected to contend for the playoffs in 2024-25, GM Craig Conroy has the chance to move Andrei Kuzmenko to a playoff-bound team in exchange for valuable draft picks or prospects.
