Former NHL enforcer Stephen Peat, who played for the Anaheim Ducks and Washington Capitals, has tragically passed away at 44.

The NHL Alumni group confirmed his death, with reports indicating that Peat succumbed to injuries sustained a few weeks prior.
Peat, known for his toughness on the ice, was drafted 32nd overall by the Anaheim Ducks in the 1998 NHL Draft. He played in the NHL from 2001 to 2006, amassing 234 penalty minutes and 10 points (8 goals, 2 assists) over 130 games.
Peat also spent significant time in the AHL and briefly played for the Danbury Trashers during the 2004-2005 NHL lockout, a team featured in the Netflix documentary Untold: Crime and Penalties.
