According to new head coach Dany Bylsma, the team is considering Jessica Campbell for an assistant coaching position. This potential appointment could make her the first full-time female assistant coach in NHL history.
New #SeaKraken head coach Dan Bylsma tells reporters in Seattle that Jessica Campbell will be considered for a job on his coaching staff.

There's never been a full-time female assistant coach in the NHL before
Bylsma, who recently ascended from his role as head coach of the AHL's Coachella Valley Firebirds, is no stranger to inclusivity in hockey.
His previous experience in the AHL with Campbell and his decision to bring her into the NHL spotlight speaks volumes about his trust in her capabilities and the progressive direction of the Kraken.
During the preseason in October, Bylsma made headlines by having Kori Cheverie serve behind the bench, marking her as the first woman to do so in an NHL game.
Cheverie, who formerly worked with the Pittsburgh Penguins and now coaches PWHL Montreal, has paved the way for more women like Campbell to step into prominent roles within the league.
With the Coachella Valley Firebirds still vying for the Calder Cup, Bylsma and Campbell have their immediate tasks cut out in the AHL.
Their next challenge is the Western Conference Finals against the Milwaukee Admirals, set to start on Wednesday.
Should Campbell join the Kraken, it would not only be a personal milestone but a historic moment for the NHL, signaling a shift towards a more inclusive and diverse coaching future.
In an era where the barriers are continually being challenged, Jessica Campbell's potential appointment stands as a testament to the evolving landscape of sports, where talent and capability aim to transcend traditional boundaries.
As the Seattle Kraken gear up for their upcoming season, all eyes will be on their leadership decisions, highlighting a transformative period in professional hockey.
