Blackhawks secure future with Artyom Levshunov's signing.

In a strategic move aimed at bolstering their defensive lineup, the Chicago Blackhawks have officially signed Artyom Levshunov, their coveted 2nd overall pick from the 2024 NHL Draft, to an entry-level contract that extends through the 2026-2027 season.
This pivotal signing underscores the organization's commitment to building a robust team foundation centered around young, promising talents.
Levshunov, a standout defenseman from Michigan State University, has opted to forego his remaining NCAA eligibility to launch his professional career next season.
The Blackhawks have charted a clear developmental path for him, starting with a stint in the AHL with the Rockford IceHogs, rather than an immediate jump to the NHL.
« Artyom Levshunov has signed his entry-level contract with the Blackhawks.

He'll compete for an NHL job in camp but he's likely headed to Rockford next season. »

The terms of Levshunov's contract include an average annual value (AAV) of $975K, reflecting the Blackhawks' significant investment in his potential as a future cornerstone of their defensive squad.
Mark Eaton, the Blackhawks' Assistant General Manager of Player Development, emphasized the intention to closely monitor Levshunov's progression in the AHL, focusing on a careful, measured approach to his growth.
« Signing Artyom gives us the opportunity to continue his development in-house and take the next step into professional hockey,» said General Manager Kyle Davidson. «He's a strong two-way defenseman that has all the tools to be a high-end player in the NHL, and we're excited to continue his growth at the pro level. »

During his last NCAA season, Levshunov impressed with 35 points (9 goals and 26 assists) over 38 games. His prior season in the USHL with the Green Bay Gamblers was equally impressive, where he racked up 42 points (13 goals and 29 assists) across 62 games.
His exceptional performance has not only made him a key player for the Blackhawks but also marked him as the highest-drafted Belarusian player in NHL history, taken 2nd overall by the organization.
As the Blackhawks look forward to the upcoming seasons, Levshunov's development will be crucial in shaping the team's defensive strategies and overall competitiveness in the league.
