The Chicago Blackhawks are looking to bounce back from a tough 2023-24 season, where they finished with the second-worst record in the NHL.

For the team to take the next step in the 2024-25 season, they will need veteran goaltender Petr Mrazek to play a pivotal role. Last season, Petr Mrazek appeared in 56 games, posting a .907 save percentage and a 3.05 goals-against average. While his stats may not stand out, Petr Mrazek often faced tough odds, with Chicago giving up frequent scoring chances and odd-man rushes.
As the new season begins, the pressure will be on Mrazek, especially with backup goalie Laurent Brossoit sidelined with a knee injury. The Blackhawks' younger goaltenders, Arvid Soderblom and Drew Commesso, are waiting in the wings, but Petr Mrazek will have to carry most of the workload early on.
If Petr Mrazek can provide stability in net, the Blackhawks could take meaningful steps forward this season as they continue their rebuild.
