Andrew Cogliano bids farewell to the NHL after a distinguished 17-season career.

In an emotional announcement from the Colorado Avalanche, Andrew Cogliano has decided to hang up his skates after an illustrious career spanning nearly 1,300 games in the National Hockey League.
« Thank you Cogs for continuously making an impact on and off the ice. Congratulations on an outstanding career. »
« The game of hockey has given me and my family so much and I am grateful for every moment," Cogliano expressed. "I am blessed to have played for so long with some great organizations and amazing teammates.

I will miss being with the guys in the dressing room and battling for each other on the ice every night but it's time to move on. Thank you to everyone I ever played with, played for and all the great fans for all of their support. I am excited to start my new chapter in the front office. »

Drafted 25th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in 2005, Cogliano's nearly 1,300-game career was distributed among some of the NHL's notable teams, including the San Jose Sharks, Colorado Avalanche, Edmonton Oilers, Anaheim Ducks, and Dallas Stars.
« On behalf of the Avalanche organization, we would like to congratulate Andrew on a fantastic NHL career," said Avalanche General Manager Chris MacFarland. "He is a true pro, a fierce competitor, a great teammate and leader, and a mentor for younger players.

He always set the example for the rest of the group with his hard work on and off the ice and his preparation and details. And while we will miss him on the ice, we couldn't be more excited to have him on board with our organization in this new role. He will be an invaluable resource with his unique knowledge of the game and his many years of experience to help the next generation of Avalanche players. »

Just shy of the 1,300-game milestone by six games, Cogliano's career stats boast 190 goals and 274 assists. Including his playoff performances, which add another 131 games where he scored 13 goals and contributed 27 assists, his on-ice prowess was undeniable.
Known for his special performances during the postseason, his legacy will continue to influence the sport, especially now that he transitions into a new role within the Avalanche organization. This new chapter promises to leverage his extensive experience and love for the game, offering a bright future for up-and-coming players under his guidance.
