Marc-Andre Fleury announces retirement after next season.

In a heartfelt revelation to the NHL media, goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has declared the upcoming 2024-25 season his last on the ice.
Fleury, a key figure in the NHL, made the announcement following a period of speculation about his future in professional hockey.
Earlier in the year, at the conclusion of the regular season, Fleury hinted that retirement was a looming prospect though he wasn't yet prepared to permanently hang up his pads. This sentiment paved the way for his recent decision, which came after thoughtful consideration.
The veteran goalie inked a one-year extension with the Minnesota Wild, extending his storied career following an initial two-year stint that commenced with a trade to the Chicago Blackhawks back in 2022.
« I'm not doing this again. No, this is it, Fleury firmly stated, expressing a resolve not seen in previous seasons. I am more certain than last year. It's going to be the last. »

In his farewell season, Fleury is focused on savoring every moment.
« I'm going to try to enjoy my last year, have fun, win games, he shared. His potential to climb to second place on the NHL's all-time saves list looms large, yet he maintains that reaching this milestone is not his primary goal. I could end up second [on the NHL's all-time list in saves]. But it's not a big deal. It's not something I absolutely need to achieve. »

Fleury's illustrious career already boasts significant achievements, including surpassing Patrick Roy on the NHL's all-time win list for goaltenders just this past season.
Even if he does not capture the saves milestone, his legacy as one of the greatest goaltenders in league history is secure.
As the Minnesota Wild look to rebound from missing the playoffs last year, hopes are high that Fleury's final season will be marked by a strong push for postseason glory.
Fans and teammates alike are poised to support Fleury's last hurrah, aiming to make it a season to remember.
