After a 12-season career in the NHL, former defenseman Jordie Benn has announced his retirement at age 37.

Jordie Benn confirmed the news to CHEK News in his hometown of Victoria, BC. Known for his work ethic and commitment, Jordie Benn reflected on his journey, saying,
"A lot of people thought I never should have made it, and maybe I shouldn't have, but I just worked as hard as I could every night."
Undrafted out of the BCHL, Benn made his NHL debut in 2012 with the Dallas Stars, where he spent the first five seasons of his career alongside his younger brother, Jamie Benn. Over the years, Jordie Benn also played for the Vancouver Canucks, Winnipeg Jets, Minnesota Wild, and Toronto Maple Leafs, finishing with 26 goals and 111 assists in 607 NHL games. His final NHL appearance was during the 2022-23 season with the Maple Leafs, and he later played for Brynäs IF in Sweden.
Jordie Benn's career stands as a testament to perseverance, making it to the NHL against the odds.
