Blackhawks secure continuity with key signings for IceHogs' roster in 2024-2025.

In a strategic move to bolster their affiliate team, the Chicago Blackhawks have announced the re-signing of defenseman D.J. King and forward Ryan Gagnier to the IceHogs for the AHL 2024-2025 season.
This decision underlines the organization's commitment to developing talent within its ranks and ensuring stability in player progression.
Mark Bernard, the President of Hockey Operations and General Manager of the IceHogs, expressed his satisfaction with Gagnier's development over his rookie year.
« Ryan's rookie season saw him play games in both Indy and Rockford, and we were impressed with his progression throughout the year, Bernard stated. He is a smart player that will continue to develop, and we're happy it's within our organization. »

At just 21 years old, Gagnier, originally from Tecumseh, Ontario, showcased his potential by playing five games with the IceHogs and spending the majority of the season with the Indy Fuel in the ECHL.
Notably, he marked his first AHL goal against the Milwaukee Admirals and accumulated 28 points, including 8 goals and 20 assists, over his ECHL season, which also included five playoff games.
Before joining the professional ranks, Gagnier had a standout season with the Oshawa Generals in the OHL during 2022-2023, where he led the team with 69 points.
On the defensive end, D.J. King's re-signing also represents a crucial depth addition for the IceHogs. Bernard highlighted King's contributions and potential for growth.
« D.J. did a great job last year in Indy for us and adds depth to our back end, Bernard commented. We are excited to watch him take the next step in his development.»

King, who stands at 6'3" and weighs 216 pounds, will be entering his fourth professional year. Having spent most of last season with the Indy Fuel, King posted 11 points in 57 games and added an assist in the playoffs.
His previous AHL experience includes two games with the Grand Rapid Griffins in the 2021-2022 season. Notably, his ties to the hockey world are deep, with his father being a former IceHogs head coach and currently an assistant coach with the Blackhawks.
With these signings, the Blackhawks are clearly focusing on nurturing their homegrown talent, setting a foundation for both players to flourish under the organizational umbrella, and contributing to the team's future success.
