According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, Guentzel is ranked as the second-best free agent this year.

With the Chicago Blackhawks boasting $35 million in open cap space, and General Manager Kyle Davidson expressing his intent to bring in reinforcements to support
Connor Bedard and revitalize the team's winning culture, Guentzel is emerging as a prime candidate for the Blackhawks.
Guentzel, who has won two Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins, brings not only his scoring prowess but also significant leadership qualitiestraits the Blackhawks are keen to acquire to aid in the development of their young talent.
Known for being a consistent 40-goal scorer, Guentzel concluded the past season with 30 goals, 47 assists, and 77 points in just 67 games. His playmaking abilities could be the perfect complement to Connor Bedard's style.
Ranked as the second-best free agent available, Guentzel is reportedly seeking $9.5 million annually on a long-term deal. This is where Kyle Davidson's aggressive approach in the market could come into play.
Davidson, known for bold moves such as trading away stars like Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat and letting others like Dylan Strome walk in free agency, could make a significant impact by securing Guentzel.
Should the Blackhawks meet Guentzel's $9.5 million asking price? With the cap space available and the need for a strong leader and proven scorer, it's a decision that could shape the future of the organization.
