Former NHLers Jason Strudwick and Todd Bertuzzi share locker room antics on Spittin' Chiclets podcast.

In a revelation that sheds light on the lighter, albeit slightly controversial, side of NHL camaraderie, former hockey professionals Jason Strudwick and Todd Bertuzzi recounted an amusing, if not slightly brow-raising, practice involving their former Vancouver Canucks captain, Markus Naslund.

The duo shared their experiences during a lively session on the popular Spittin' Chiclets Podcast, set to air this Wednesday.
The jest, as it turns out, wasn't merely for kicks. Strudwick and Bertuzzi, who quickly became close friends and often shared accommodations on road games, had a peculiar way of deciding who would foot the lunch bill.
It involved none other than Naslund, whom they would playfully bully into buying meals. According to Strudwick, this routine was almost ritualistic whenever their hotel rooms were adjacent.
" Our rooms were always linked and we'd open the door and every time we'd get into a wrestling match. Bertuzzi and I probably outweighed him by about 150 pounds. So we go in there and we'd just stuff him under the bed. He'd be like 'Stop it stop it' and we were like you got to buy us lunch," Strudwick shared, his tone reflecting the light-heartedness of the episodes.

This story, while showcasing a less-discussed aspect of team dynamics, also highlights the physicality that often extends off the ice within the world of professional hockey.
Naslund, a respected figure in the sport and a Hall of Famer, apparently took these interactions in stride, often yielding to his larger teammates' demands in good humor.
Strudwick, whose NHL career spanned over 631 games with a modest tally of 53 points, reminisced about these moments with a chuckle, perhaps encapsulating a commonly held sentiment in sports: the locker room fosters its unique hierarchy and traditions.
Bertuzzi, often known by fans as "Uncle Todd," seems to have played a pivotal role in these playful exchanges.
