Swift Transition at the Helm
Colliton's tenure with the Abbotsford Canucks spanned two impactful seasons, where he compiled a 40-25-7 record each year.
Despite this, the team's early playoff exit in the 2022-2023 season marked a decisive end to his stint. Previously, Colliton had been dismissed from the Chicago team, propelling him into the AHL scene in 2022.
Manny Malhotra, a former NHL forward and seasoned coach, takes over, bringing a fresh perspective to the Canucks' bench.
His appointment is seen as a strategic move to invigorate the team's dynamics and performance.
Colliton's Future Prospects
Following his departure, Colliton is reportedly exploring opportunities within the NHL, indicating a readiness to return to the league's top tier.
Speculation around his next move intensified after he declined an extension offer from Abbotsford earlier this May, a decision reported on May 16 by Sportsnet's Dan Murphy:
Recent chatter, fueled by Elliotte Friedman on his "32 Thoughts" podcast, suggests that Colliton may be in talks with several NHL teams, including the San Jose Sharks.
"I have wondered if Colliton has been interviewed in San Jose, too," Friedman noted, hinting at possible interviews. "A couple of people have mentioned that maybe Colliton has a couple of NHL opportunities he's exploring."
What's Next for Colliton?
This week, Elliotte Friedman added more weight to the speculation. On his «32 Thoughts» podcast, Friedman suggested that Colliton might be interviewing with NHL teams, including the San Jose Sharks.

As developments unfold, Colliton remains a figure of interest in the shifting landscapes of professional hockey coaching.
