The Chicago Blackhawks name change has been officially acknowledged by the team.

Steve Maltepes, a popular online social media reporter, recently expressed his dissatisfaction with sports teams changing their names due to such issues, citing the Chicago Blackhawks as a prime example.
In 2020, the NFL's Washington team changed its name to 'the Washington Football Team,' later becoming the Washington Commanders.
This move sparked discussions about the appropriateness of team names and logos, leading to scrutiny of the Chicago Blackhawks' name.
"The Chicago Blackhawks' name and logo symbolizes an important and historic person, Black Hawk of Illinois' Sac & Fox Nation, whose leadership and life has inspired generations of Native Americans, veterans, and the public,"

The Wirtz family, owners of the Blackhawks, has firmly stated they will not change the team's name, emphasizing the historical significance of Black Hawk, a leader of Illinois' Sac and Fox Nation.
"We celebrate Black Hawk's legacy by offering ongoing reverent examples of Native American culture, traditions, and contributions, providing a platform for genuine dialogue with local and national Native American groups. As the team's popularity grew over the past decade, so did that platform and our work with these important organizations."

It appears the Blackhawks will maintain their name, putting this debate to rest for now.
