Ryan Getzlaf joins NHL department of player safety after illustrious career.

In a significant move that marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another, Ryan Getzlaf has transitioned from the ice to the office, joining the NHL's Department of Player Safety.
The news, officially released by the NHL, pairs the former Anaheim Ducks captain with another Ducks alumnus, George Parros, who currently holds a prominent position in the department.
During his impressive career, Getzlaf not only secured a Stanley Cup but also claimed two Olympic gold medals, showcasing his prowess on both the national and international stages.
His retirement after the 2021-22 season led him back to Anaheim in June 2023 as a player development coordinator, a role emphasizing his commitment to nurturing new talent.
The specifics of Getzlaf's new role within the Department of Player Safety remain undisclosed. However, George Parros expressed great enthusiasm about the addition of Getzlaf to the team.
« We are thrilled to welcome Ryan as the newest member of our department,» Parros stated. « His accomplishments on the ice speak for themselves: he won at every level and was widely respected for being a hard-nosed and highly-skilled player and effective leader. From his rookie NHL season in 2005 until his recent retirement, he lived and played through many of the changes our game has seen, which will provide our group with unique and valuable perspective moving forward. »

As Getzlaf steps into this new role, his extensive experience and firsthand knowledge of the game are expected to bring valuable insights to the Department of Player Safety, potentially influencing future regulations and player safety protocols.
