Chicago Blackhawks secure goaltending talent with Mitchell weeks' re-signing.
In a move that solidifies their goaltending roster, the Chicago Blackhawks have announced the renewal of Mitchell Weeks' contract for another two years.
The decision comes as a significant step for the club, spotlighting Weeks as a key asset in their future plans.
« Mitchell is an exciting young goalie prospect who has played very well in his AHL opportunities, and we're looking forward to watch his development over the next couple of years," shared Mark Bernard, IceHogs President of Hockey Operations and General Manager. He praised Weeks' "attitude and work ethic" as pivotal to his progression within the organization. »
At 23, Weeks has already demonstrated remarkable potential. His tenure with the Rockford Ice Hogs last season was marked by notable achievements including his inaugural career shutout on January 12 and a streak of three consecutive wins.
Standing tall at 6-foot-3 and weighing 190 lbs, Weeks shows promise but acknowledges the ongoing development needed to refine his skills further.
His stint with the Indy Fuel last season was particularly impressive, setting personal records in games played, minutes on the ice, and saves.
Tying his career-high with 15 wins, Weeks finished the season with a goals-against average (GAA) of 2.74 and a save percentage (SP) of .902 through 17 career AHL games.
This contract renewal is more than just a routine signing; it is a testament to the Blackhawks' commitment to nurturing young talent and building a robust team foundation for the coming seasons.
As Weeks continues to develop, both the team and fans alike are keen to see how this young goaltender will shape the future of Chicago Blackhawks' hockey.
