Blackhawks bolster defense: Phillips and Crevier ink new deals.

In a move that underscores their commitment to nurturing young talent, the Chicago Blackhawks, under the guidance of GM Kyle Davidson, have solidified their roster by signing Isaak Phillips and Louis Crevier.
Both defensemen have earned their stripes, showcasing their skills in the NHL last season and will now continue their development with the AHL's Rockford IceHogs.
Despite limited appearances due to a spate of injuries within the team during the 2023-2024 season, both Phillips and Crevier made significant impacts.
Their performances have not only earned them new contracts but also affirmed their roles in the future of the franchise.
The contracts, both set at the league minimum of $775K, are structured as two-way, one-year deals, offering flexibility and further opportunities for growth.
Phillips, standing at 6'3", appeared in 33 games for the Blackhawks last season, contributing 6 points.
His time in Rockford was equally productive, where he played 29 games and posted 14 points, including 4 goals and 10 assists.
Selected in the fifth round (141st overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft, Phillips has consistently demonstrated his value on the ice.
On the other hand, Crevier, the tallest player in the Blackhawks organization at 6'8", made his NHL debut against the Minnesota Wild on December 3, 2023.
He participated in 24 regular season NHL games, and in the AHL, he tallied 11 points in 41 games, consisting of 3 goals and 8 assists.
Drafted in the seventh round (188th overall) of the 2020 draft, Crevier's unique physical attributes and skills have made him a notable presence.
As the Blackhawks have bolstered their defense with seasoned players like TJ Brodie and Alec Martinez, the opportunities for Phillips and Crevier might be different this upcoming season.
However, their contributions at training camp will be crucial as they continue to develop under the Blackhawks' tutelage.
This strategic move by Davidson not only secures depth in the defensive lineup but also ensures that the Blackhawks are investing in their future, grooming players who have already started making their mark in the big league.
